A Southeast Asian national team had to cancel a friendly match.

The friendly match between the Singapore national team and the Faroe Islands national team was canceled due to the tense situation in the Middle East region.

On March 11th evening, the Football Association of Singapore (FAS) announced the cancellation of the friendly match between the Singapore national team and the Faroe Islands national team, which was scheduled to take place on March 26th in Dubai.

It is understood that the decision to cancel was made after consulting partners and stakeholders, based on a careful assessment of the evolving situation in the Middle East and its potential impacts on travel and match operations.

Accordingly, the safety and well-being of the players, coaching staff, referees, and fans remain the top priority for the Singapore Football Association.

Thus, the Singapore national team will not have any friendly match before entering the official match against the Bangladesh national team, scheduled for March 31st within the framework of the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers. However, this is considered not to significantly affect "The Asian Lions" as they have already secured their ticket to the tournament's final stage.

After the first 5 matches in Group C, this team has 11 points, thereby leading the group standings. Notably, this is the first time in history that the Singapore national team has passed the qualification stage of an Asian Cup. Previously, they had only participated in the tournament once as hosts in 1984.
