Spanish coach poised to lead numerous U23 Vietnam stars

Coach Gerard Albadalejo is highly likely to take charge of PVF CAND after being dismissed by Ninh Bình FC.

PVF-CAND Club is undergoing notable changes on the coaching bench following a series of disappointing results in the 2025/2026 season. According to sources from VTC News, the club unexpectedly shifted focus to negotiations with coach Gerard Albadalejo, who recently parted ways with Ninh Bình Club.

While awaiting the completion of negotiations, Mr. Trần Tiến Đại has been appointed as technical director and will temporarily assume the head coach position for a short period. Holding the highest-level coaching license, Mr. Đại meets the regulatory requirements to lead a team in the V.League.

Nevertheless, Mr. Trần Tiến Đại directly taking on coaching duties still surprises many. He is better known for his roles as a player agent and football manager, so PVF-CAND continues to pursue the option of finding a new head coach. Gerard Albadalejo is currently considered a strong candidate for the hot seat.

If he leads PVF CAND, Coach Gerard Albadalejo will become the mentor of many top stars of the U23 Vietnam team, such as Thanh Nhàn, Hiểu Minh, Lý Đức, Xuân Bắc, Anh Quân. However, the task of keeping this club in the top division will certainly not be easy for the Spanish strategist.

Previously, the Spanish strategist impressed by guiding Ninh Bình to a 36-match unbeaten streak, helping the club dominate the competition for a long period. However, losing all three opening matches in 2026 led to Albadalejo's departure from the coaching position.

On PVF-CAND's side, the club has officially parted ways with Coach Nguyễn Thành Công following a series of unstable results. According to the club's announcement, on March 10th, PVF-CAND's leadership held a professional meeting to assess the team's situation in the V.League. After discussions, Coach Nguyễn Thành Công and three assistants voluntarily resigned, paving the way for changes in the team's coaching staff.
